Conquer our latest ‘Squid Games’ High Energy Team Bonding

Two weeks ago, the team at Redwood Interior stepped out of the office and into a high-stakes, fast-paced Squid Game-inspired team building event organised by One D Team Building. Set in an outdoor venue, this immersive experience brought together employees across departments in a day of strategy, fun, and collaboration.
With an elimination-style structure, the program kept everyone engaged from start to finish. Participants were sorted into winning and losing pools after an opening mission, then rotated through a series of thrilling team-based challenges, with new teams formed after each round.
Kicking Off with Chaos – Opening Mission
The event kicked off with all participants in a free-for-all opener—Musical Group. As music played, everyone mingled and moved. When the music stopped, a group number was announced, and players had to scramble to form groups of that exact size. Those left out were “eliminated” into the losing pool, while the rest proceeded to the winning pool.
Participants in the winning pool faced a series of strategic and physically engaging challenges, including:

- Stack It – A team-based balancing game with a race against time.
- Marble Thrower – A test of precision and coordination.
- Five Stone Challenge – A relay-style game inspired by traditional play.
Each round saw the lowest-performing team moved to the losing pool, keeping the stakes high.
The losing pool wasn’t out of the game—quite the opposite. With their own set of exciting challenges, these participants had the chance to earn their way back:

- Spike Ball – A high-energy coordination game.
- Capture the Flag – A fast-paced hunt for hidden flags.
- Tug of War – A classic battle of strength and unity.
Winners of the losing pool missions got promoted to the winning pool, keeping the game flow dynamic and inclusive.
Dynamic Team Formation & Rotation

After every game, participants were reshuffled into new teams based on remaining numbers in each pool. This ever-changing dynamic encouraged interaction with new colleagues, helped break departmental silos, and created fresh strategic approaches each round.
Games alternated between the pools to ensure momentum was consistent, and every participant stayed involved right until the end.
The Ultimate Showdown: Red Light, Green Light
All paths led to the finale game—the iconic Red Light, Green Light. In this final face-off, participants could move only when “Green Light” was called and had to freeze on “Red Light.” Anyone caught moving was “eliminated.” The last player standing earned ultimate bragging rights as the Squid Game Champion.
Learning Objectives Behind the Fun

Beneath the surface of playful competition, the event was thoughtfully designed to:
- Strengthen cross-team collaboration by reshuffling teams after each round
- Encourage adaptive thinking in unfamiliar, fast-changing scenarios
- Foster communication under pressure
- Build resilience, giving participants a chance to recover from setbacks
- Highlight leadership potential through quick decision-making and team coordination
Each game required teams to think on their feet, delegate roles quickly, and support each other—all critical skills in the workplace.
Challenges Faced, Growth Gained

While the energy was high, the event wasn’t without its challenges. Some of the key takeaways came through moments of struggle:
- Working with unfamiliar teammates in newly shuffled teams pushed many out of their comfort zones.
- Balancing assertiveness with collaboration was a learning curve for some individuals.
- Managing disappointment when being moved to the losing pool tested emotional resilience—but also sparked motivation to bounce back stronger.
These moments of challenge turned into opportunities for reflection, bonding, and personal growth. For many, the experience was a rare and valuable chance to see colleagues in a new light.
